Autogate is not an OCR layer connected to whichever depot management system you already run. It is a three-part gate solution — ConPDS Autogate and Tracker at the lane, DepotMaster as the operational system of record. Depots not already on DepotMaster migrate as part of the Autogate programme.

What Is Gate Operations Infrastructure?

Gate operations infrastructure removes the manual steps that slow down every truck visit — from booking to gate-in to yard operations to gate-out — and replaces them with automated capture, validation, and barrier control. The hauler enters booking data once. That data becomes the single source of truth for everything that follows. The EIR-linked, container-number-validated gate evidence record is the by-product of operations running correctly — not a separate task for gate or office staff.

STEPS 01–02 — PRE-REGISTER & APPROACH

Online Pre-Registration and Truck Approach

The hauler pre-registers each booking online — each booking generates one QR code for the driver. A driver with multiple bookings (e.g. a drop-off and a pick-up) arrives with one QR code per booking. The truck drives through the camera zone and stops at the kiosk totem — no staff involvement required at this stage.

STEPS 03–04 — IDENTIFY & VALIDATE

Tracker Identification, Kiosk Display, and QR Scan

ConPDS Tracker detects the truck from the video stream, reads the licence plate and container number(s), selects the best result, and pushes the data to the kiosk app. The driver sees their plate and container numbers displayed on screen, then scans their QR code(s). The QR scan triggers the DepotMaster call — validating the OCR-captured data against the active booking in real time.

STEP 05 — BARRIER DECISION

Automatic Barrier Control or Exception Routing

When all data matches — licence plate, container number(s), and QR booking — DepotMaster confirms and Tracker opens the barrier automatically. The driver proceeds without leaving the cabin. On any mismatch, the kiosk displays a clear message and connects the driver to the gate office via intercom. The office can correct the data and open the barrier manually — every decision is logged in the audit trail.

Site & Physical Requirements

Gate lanes must meet ConPDS length, width, and camera sight-line specifications — one to many lanes, gate-in only, gate-out only, or fully bidirectional. The barrier must be motorised and controllable remotely via relay or switch; camera positions are designed around your lane geometry during the site assessment.

Operational Flexibility

Standard gate-in and gate-out, pick-up, drop-off verification, shuttle and hired-truck bookings, multi-booking visits via ADD OPERATION, whitelisted bypass for known vehicles, configurable yard capacity limits, and office override available on every transaction.

DepotMaster Integration

DepotMaster is required — it is the reservation system and the store for gate evidence. Autogate validates OCR reads against DepotMaster bookings via REST API and writes gate event records back to it. MQTT and JSON outputs are available for any TOS, WMS, or logistics platform that needs gate event data downstream.

Scales Per Gate

Add gates at any time without re-architecting the system — each lane scales linearly with its own subscription component. Initial implementation is scoped under the one-time project fee; additional gates may require subscription and project scope updates.

Rollout Flexibility

Five-phase deployment with a supervised pilot on one lane first. Scale the remaining lanes at the depot's pace. On-premise processing keeps the gate running throughout the transition — manual and automated operations can coexist during rollout.

What is not flexible today: ConPDS Autogate requires DepotMaster as the reservation system — additional DMS integrations are on the roadmap. Rollouts also require a supervised pilot and enough lead time for depot training. These are deliberate constraints, not limitations we hide.

The complete programme brings together ConPDS-supplied automation electronics and software with customer-built gate infrastructure — including kiosk totem, motorised barrier, safety sensors, and site networking — under one engineered and commissioned Autogate design.

The kiosk computing device runs the self-service Autogate app — the driver-facing output of ConPDS Tracker. It guides the driver through gate-in or gate-out step by step, displaying exactly what Tracker has processed and what DepotMaster has confirmed, in plain language the driver can act on immediately.

Gate operators see everything from the office — live OCR reads with the exact camera frame used, licence plate data, and a mirrored view of what the driver sees on the kiosk screen. From the same interface they can speak to the driver via intercom, correct any data, force a barrier open, or remotely reset a kiosk totem. Whitelisted vehicles bypass the gate flow entirely.

ConPDS charges a one-time project fee for initial implementation and an annual per-gate subscription for supplied electronics, software, and ongoing support. Your local infrastructure contractor builds gate, kiosk, power, and network infrastructure to ConPDS specifications. Tracker is the on-premise intelligence layer included in every subscription. Built for On-Premise Security and Open Integration

OCR and video processing operate locally and do not depend on internet connectivity. Standard automated gate transactions require connectivity to DepotMaster for booking validation and confirmation. Autogate adds automated OCR capture, kiosk self-service, and barrier control on top of DepotMaster. It does not integrate with other depot management systems today.
What happens when OCR data does not match the booking reservation?
When a mismatch is detected, the driver receives an on-screen message on the kiosk terminal touch screen directing them to use the intercom. Office staff are then able to correct the reservation data in DepotMaster and trigger the barrier manually, or direct the driver to the office for resolution.
